As the Euroleague season is about to start in Kaunas, we decided it’s time to take a look into the calendar and save the dates for the most intriguing international basketball matches at Žalgirio arena.
The legendary kaunastic club Žalgiris Kaunas, multiple champions of Lithuanian Basketball League and veterans of Euroleague, will meet the first guests, Belgrade’s Crvena Zvezda, on Friday, October 13th. Will this be a lucky combo for our team? We’ll see! What’s for sure is that the Žalgirio arena will be very full, as Kautra, the partners of the team, have launched a fan bus system that operates from 8 cities in Lithuania, including Vilnius and Klaipėda. Žalgiris is the most loved sports brand in Lithuania so the shuttle bus program is something many people have been waiting for.
Another evening we’re anticipating is Thursday, October 26th, as Real Madrid are coming to town. After quite a few matches abroad and a handful of Lithuanian Basketball League games (of course we recommend attending them, too), BC Žalgiris Kaunas will once again become Euroleague host on Thursday, Nov 16th. That’s when Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz are coming over from Spain. A match with Anadolu Efes Istanbul is scheduled for Thursday, Nov 23rd.
December 7th will be a night to remember in Kaunas – Panathinaikos Athens, a team the head coach of Žalgiris, Šarūnas Jasikevičius, spent a significant part of career in, are coming over. Germany’s Brose Bamberg are in for December 19th, and, just before the New Year, on December 28th we’ll attend a game of Žalgiris and Olympiacos Piraeus.
That’s just the first half of Euroleague season – for games scheduled in 2018, check the official website of BC Žalgiris Kaunas. This is where you can buy tickets, too.
See you in the biggest arena in the Baltics (here’s our 10 reasons to watch a Žalgiris game article in case you need more arguments)!
P.S. We suggest you stop at the Žalgiris Shop on S. Daukanto st. to get some green and white clothing before the game.
