On January 26th, the Kaunas IN Tourism Information Centre was awarded as Lithuania’s most successful. The tourism awards ceremony took place during the annual international tourism exhibition “Adventur 2018” held in Vilnius, Lithuania. More than 10 thousand people voted online for the stars of Lithuanian tourism.
The main tourism information centre of Kaunas is located in the Town Hall and has recently received a stylish facelift. You’re welcome to stop by and have your Kaunas-related questions answered – you can also pick up a free map, a tourist guide, some postcards and, of course, buy some kaunastic gifts.
As the tourist numbers in Kaunas keep growing, it’s important the city itself changes for the better and focuses on new tourism-oriented products and higher quality of services available. Spring is a great time for some news here! One of the aims of Kaunas In, the agency established to attract investment and tourists to Kaunas, is to make sure the availability of tourism information is not dependant on the working hours of official tourism centres. This means businesses and service providers in Kaunas are also involved in welcoming tourists and help assure they have a great time in Kaunas. A handful of restaurants, hotels and other businesses in Kaunas have already joined the initiative called ‘Tourism-friendly Places’. The staff of the cafes, hotels and other venues marked with the Tourism-friendly stickers will provide you with the essential information about Kaunas (they’re stacked with free maps and guides of the city, too).
Another factor that definitely gained a lot of votes for Kaunas IN Tourism Information Centre was the reconstruction of Vilnius International Airport. In July and August last year, at the peak of the tourism season, Kaunas airport became the main gate of Lithuania. During the period of 35 days, the Kaunas IN team, assisted by wonderful volunteers, met 3000 arriving flights and provided tourism-related information for more than 10 000 people. It was a hot summer indeed!
The Kaunas IN Tourism Information Centre at Rotušės a. 15 is open every day. See you there!
