Even though the winter of 2017/2018 is not particularly cold (as of the beginning of January) in Lithuania, it doesn’t mean Kaunasians don’t deserve some proper outdoor exercise.
Just before the after-Christmas blues usually kicks in, the city municipality has announced a surprise – an outdoor skating rink will be opened in the Santaka park (at the confluence of Nemunas and Neris rivers) on January 12 th. This means exercise will include great views!
The 20 x 40 m skating rink will be open from midday to 9PM on weekdays and from 10AM to 10PM on weekends. It can fit as many as 150 persons and is… free of charge! You can bring your own skates or rent a pair for a friendly fee.
Above zero temperature won’t harm the fun as the skating rink’s system will be ready to cool the ice at all times. Rain could mean a small pause, but it’s not expected in the nearest future.
The ice rink will be open for everyone to enjoy until Jan 27th. We've also heard talks about friendly ice hockey matches and skating performances.
