Together with the Kaunas Fire and Rescue Service, the museum collects exhibits related to fire fighting in Lithuania. The Museum‘s publishing house „Plieno sparnai“ was founded in 1991 and publishes aviators‘ recollections and other popular history books.
The most popular exhibit isthefull size replica of 1933 transatlantic aircraft„Lituanica“,designed and built in 1982 by known Lithuanian aviator V. Kensgaila for the history feature film„The Flight Across the Atlantic Ocean“. The Museum is proud to exibit the collection of gliders and sailplanes that were built or used in Lithuania. Large part of this collection are gliders built by Lithuanian constructor B. Oškinis. Two of Museum‘s gliders have Certificates of Airworthiness and can be demonstrated in the air.On the open air exhibition visitors can see the participant of the 1989 „Baltic Chain of Freedom“ action plane An-2. Visitors can explore the collection of aircraft engine s, model planes, flight instruments , aviators‘ uniforms and badges. When visiting the Museum, you will not only see the exhibits, but also enjoy the feeling of sitting in the cockpit of an airplane or helicopter, watch films on aviation, test your piloting skills on a flight simulator. Judrėnai and Vytogala, the family farmsteads of the pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas, heroes of the 1933 transatlantic flight, house memorial exhibitions and are the branches of the Museum.
