‘We’ll be aiming at the Michelin stars in the future’, said Asta Ivanauskienė, CEO of Žalgirio arena, during the opening of a new in-house restaurant called ‘Sala’ (‘The Island’). Smooth interior, great-tasting and great-looking dishes from local ingredients and unbeatable view are just three of the many reasons to visit the new gourmet spot in town as soon as possible.
The restaurant lists seasonal dishes, free range, slow cooking and Lithuanian farmers production among their priorities - this means a constantly renewed menu full of what’s best at the moment, created for you right here and right now. Linas Jackevičius is the restaurant’s head chef.
As the restaurant is located in the home arena of the country’s most loved basketball team, lots of tall men visited the grand opening, including the most legendary Lithuanian player of all time, Arvydas Sabonis, and Šarūnas Jasikevičius, the head coach of BC Žalgiris Kaunas.
See what was cookin’ during the big night in the video below.
‘Sala’ opens on 8AM on weekdays (9AM on weekends) so it’s a good breakfast destination with a 'million dollar view' of the river. Can't wait for the summer terrace to be opened!
