Enjoy Kaunas Safely: New Regulations

Stay safe and reasonable! And, if you cannot travel now, just think how pleasant it will be when we finish fighting the pandemic together.

As numbers of new cases of COVID-19 continue growing in Lithuania and the region, the Government has implemented new regulations to prevent the spread of the virus and ask residents and guests of Lithuania for cooperation.

As of Monday, October 26, all bars, restaurants, nightclubs and other places of entertainment have to close at midnight and register their visitors. The mandatory registration of visitors is hoped to ensure traceability in case of infections. The registration requirement will not apply to takeaway services. The midnight curfew does not apply to casinos if they do not offer catering services.

Culture institutions are operating normally and are ensuring all possible health and safety measures; visiting museums and galleries that usually provide vast distances between people is safe. As of October 28, the safe area for a person is considered 10 sq.m. Kaunas is known as a city of museums, so you have plenty to choose from for your free time. Of course, enjoying fresh air golden autumn in the parks is recommended, while avoiding large groups and keeping physical distance. We have plenty of kaunastic routes to recommend. Find the digital copies here.

Organisers of ticketed events such as concerts, film screenings and stage performances should only sell tickets online before events and by doing that, register the attendees. As for data privacy, please note your contact details will only be used by officials in case of an outbreak and will otherwise be deleted in a timely manner.

Wearing masks in all public areas has been mandatory for a few months now; from October 28, masks are mandatory in all urban areas. Disinfecting hands when entering premises is strongly encouraged. All institutions, public or private, provide disinfectant liquid or spray by the entrance.

For rules for entering Lithuania for foreign citizens, testing and self-isolation, please check the up-to-date official page of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

Stay safe and reasonable! And, if you cannot travel now, just think how pleasant it will be when we finish fighting the pandemic together. In the meantime, enjoy where you are – it is fantastic to be a tourist in your own town, too.
