Now way into its sixth year, the magazine ‘Kaunas Full of Culture’ magazine informs the residents and guests of our city about the hottest and most important cultural topics each month. Even if you’re far away from Kaunas, its long interviews and stories can definitely become an invitation to plan a holiday in Lithuania – or keep those memories alive.
In its 70+ issues, ‘Kaunas Full of Culture’ always focuses on a certain topic. Each April, for example, is dedicated to music – jazz, classical, alternative, rock… In the summertime, the cultural topics are usually ‘lighter’ and focus on gastronomy, bicycles, parks, street art, etc. Of course, arts such as dance, theatre, literature and sculpture are also on the radar. The editorial board of the magazine strives for both revealing interesting historic facts and personalities, as well as uncovering up-and-coming talents.
The current issue of ‘Kaunas 2022’, August 2021, talks about solidarity, equality and human rights. In July, it was all about bikes – bicycle routes, artists riding bikes, history of bikes in Lithuania etc.
Various programmes and topics reflecting the values and ideas of ‘Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022’ are presented in each issue of the magazine which is distributed for free. In fact, the launch of the magazine coincided with the preparation for the major cultural title of the city.
Each month, the magazine also publishes 30+ event recommendations. While these are in Lithuanian, you are welcome to visit the online cultural calendar of Kaunas at kultura.kaunas.lt/en.
Published by the Kaunas Artists’ House, the magazine is free from advertising – this means 64 pages of interesting texts and fascinating pictures each month. While the paper edition is Lithuanian-only since 2021, all of the original articles are available in English in the magazine’s website.
English-language issues from previous years, as well as 300-page-thick yearbooks with best reads, are available at the Kaunas Artists’ House free of charge. There’s a full digital archive of the magazine published on ISSUU, too.
