Mandatory face masks reintroduced in Lithuania as of August 1 (updated)

Residents and guests are invited to observe a safe distance, personal hygiene, and cough etiquette.

As of Saturday, 1 August, protective face masks will become mandatory again to wear on public transport and in enclosed shopping and service provision locations. Lithuanian Government approved the decision on Wednesday  to curb the spread of the coronavirus. As of July 29, there were 2043 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country. 

Until August 1, wearing a face mask is recommended as it has been ever since the lift of the quarantine on June 17. Also, residents and guests are invited to observe a safe distance, personal hygiene, and cough etiquette. When using public transport, it will not be possible to buy a ticket from the driver.  

UPDATE:

As of August 21, face masks are mandatory for public and cultural event participants, both inside and outside of premises, wiht an exception of artists, performers and event staff. It is also required to keep safe physical distance between participants, which is 1 meter as stated by the Health Ministry of Lithuania.
