Digital nomads have not gone anywhere during the pandemic. Of course, travelling whenever you feel like is a bit more tricky nowadays, which means the stays get longer, but the fact is more and more people discovered working remotely is totally possible. One of the advantages of remote work is that you can switch your office to a hotel room (mmm, working in bed!), a coworking area, a cafe or a library whenever you’re in the mood. So, what are the options in Kaunas if you’re here for a bit of workation?
The trend of coworking places is more than six years old in Kaunas and Lithuania. The options vary from budget to upscale, and some areas are business-oriented and request a contract for at least one month, while the others are more laid-back and offer hot desks.
Workland is perhaps the most centrally-located and offers excellent views of Laisvės alėja. It’s ideal for more extended stays or meetings. Located in a former bank, the coworking space provides 4-seat rooms for as low as 15 Eur/h, and if you plan a bigger meeting, an 8-seat room is only 20 Eur/h. Booking a hot desk includes access to the shower, office library, phonebooths etc.
At Pixel HUB, located in the industrial part of Kaunas, you can non only rent office space or a desk (the place’s open 24/7) but also a photo studio and equipment. Perfect for those working in the creative field. Konversus, a business centre outside the central part of the city, also offers both desks and small offices. One of its perks is one of the largest parking lots in Kaunas!
Many hotels in Kaunas have smaller or bigger conference rooms to suit your business needs. Additionally, you can efficiently work in rooms of such hotels as Radisson Hotel Kaunas or Moxy. The boutique hotel Monte Pacis at Pažaislis monastery is a great space to write bestsellers – it’s a fact proven by Lithuanian author Kristina Sabaliauskaitė.
Yet another perfect place overlooking Laisvės alėja – and totally free of charge – is the main room of Kaunas Municipal Vincas Kudirka Public Library. Also located in a former bank, the space has recently been renovated and offers comfortable desks, speedy internet and a creative atmosphere. Silence, please…
A cafe is always an excellent idea for digital nomads – just make sure you have your headphones with you. We trust the wifi and caffeine of Vero Cafe, Caffeine, Caif Cafe and Knygų Ministerija.
