Travelling to Kaunas by car is hassle-free from Riga, Warsaw, Vilnius, Klaipėda and pretty much the rest of the cities in the surrounding region.
You have to pay for parking in the central part of Kaunas every day from 8 am to 8 pm. Due to the ongoing reconstruction of the Townhall square, parking in the square is temporarily unavailable.
Payment methods for parking including mobile apps are available.
IMPORTANT:
From 1 August, the Reduced Emission Zone starts operating in Kaunas Old Town. You will have to pay €2 for each pass through the Reduced Emission Zone. Those arriving for personal purposes will not feel the new tax of the Reduced Emission Zone as the first hour or parking is included into the tax. Payment will be available via mobile apps, SMS or on the website parkavimaskaune.lt/en/
Approaching to the boundary of the Reduced Emission Zone, you will be notified by traffic displays “Payable Zone €2” and other information signs.
If you come to the Old Town for an hour or more, whether for leisure, a café or other purposes, it costs you nothing to stay in this part of the city. Free parking is available for the equivalent of €2 of the Low Emission Zone fee.
For more detailed information, see reduced-emission-zone/
ATTENTION! Parking procedures and prices may change, follow the information at parkavimaskaune.lt/en/ and watch the road signs.
