Starting August 1, the Low Emission Zone will be in effect in Kaunas Old Town. A €2 fee applies for each entry into the zone. For visitors staying longer than an hour, the new charge will be less noticeable since the first hour of parking is covered by the fee. As the reconstruction of the Townhall square continues, the parking charges in the Townhall square are also changing. On weekdays from 8 am to 6 pm, one hour of parking costs half as much, i.e. €1, whereas for the rest of the time (weekday evenings, nights and all weekend) parking is free. So if you pay the the €2 Low Emission Zone fee and leave your car in Townhall square (during working hours, when the parking rate is €1/hour), it costs you nothing to park your car for two hours. Payment methods for parking including mobile apps are available.
Approaching to the boundary of the Low Emission Zone, you will be notified by traffic displays “Payable Zone €2” and other information signs.
