An elegant construction of the house was initiated by the signatory of the Act of Independence of Lithuania, the Mayor of the city (1921-1931), State Council member (1933-1940) Jonas Vileišis on his own piece of land. This object has a unique significance for the diplomatic history of the nation, as it accommodated the United States embassy in 1934-1938. Mr. Owen J. C. Norem, US Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary, worked here. In 1932, the owner rented the house to an American legation and settled down in the house, which was located in the depths of the site (cur. V. Putvinskis St. 66). Year: 1930. Style: Modernism. Architect Aleksandras Gordevičius.
