Your holiday is as good as your breakfast is, right? Here's a handful of our favourite spots in Kaunas that'll satisfy your omelette and pancake needs. We recommend booking a table in advance if you're up for weekend brunch!
S. Daukanto g. 23
8 am – 12 pm
This is the place where Lithuanian traditions meet the 21st century needs. Order some farm eggs, porridge or pancakes if you want to find out how good our grandmas are at cooking breakfast.
Don’t be mistaken by the name! The doughnuts are indeed holy, but the breakfast club also includes pancakes, bagels and other divine dishes. Open every single day… And opening very early on weekends!
A generous Italian omelette will be right there waiting for you if you arrive at the corner trattoria on the main Old Town street before 2 pm. Weekdays, too!
Snobas, the younger brother of Uoksas, is located in a new business centre called Arka. This is why they not only offer a brunch menu on weekends (eggs Benedict, toasts and pulled chicken burgers are our favourite choices!) but invite for business breakfast on weekdays. Yes, you can start every single day of the week in Snobas.
Full English, eggs Benedict, croques of all kinds, waffles and one of the best breakfast views in town. Pssst... they serve amazing pasta and pizza later in the day.
The lovely Old Town bakery also prepares amazing omelettes in the morning hours. The most popular side dish here is a newspaper!
The cafe on Laisvės alėja is usually full of businessmen making deals, no matter what the time of the day is. The overall rush doesn't mean you have to finish that Greek omelette fast. Enjoy!
Favoured by the players of BC Žalgiris Kaunas, DIA is a fantastic spot for a laid-back brunch. The classic options taste best with a carefully paired drink.
Uoksas has been praised by eggs Benedict aficionados for a few years now. A flute full of Mimosa or a glass of their homemade lemonade works well with a breakfast burger, too. Very, very instagrammable...
Momo Grill is one of the most-loved new spots in Kaunas this season. Opened by restaurateurs from Klaipėda, the harbour city in West Lithuania, it offers irresistible meat dishes, impressive interior (it’s located in a former spirits factory!) and laid-back atmosphere. On weekends, they offer spectacular Bloody Marys. The quality of their eggs Benedict goes without saying.
The tex-mex brunch menu is something worth surviving until the weekend. Thanks god the menu is available on both Saturdays and Sundays otherwise we couldn't choose between the huevos rancheros and the cheese quesadillas. A Bloody Maria never hurts, though.
This Old Town pub is known for its vast craft beer selection and for a plentiful brunch menu. Imagine that – a bowl of ramen on late Sunday morning… Oh, and the original hangover burger contains 180 grams of beef and a lot of other secret ingredients.
One of the best hotels in the region offers a little bit more than immersing yourself in baroque architecture. Its restaurant is known for themed dinners, as well as themed brunches. French or Italian, sir?
P.S. We haven't included the numerous cafes offering coffee and sandwiches or granola to go and bakeries, but there are so many we'll probably have to do a separate list. Or two.
