Does your weekend getaway coincide with the international day of love, St. Valentine’s Day? Perfect. Kaunas is a very loveable city and has much to offer for romantics of all ages.

Booking a romantic dinner for two is probably step #1. Many cafes and restaurants in Kaunas offer special menus this Friday, often accompanied by live music and other warm details. For a kaunastic experience, we recommend places like Monte Pacis, Režisierius, Mesje Skonis etc. Explore the Kaunas Gastro Guide and contact the restaurants to see what’s possible. Even a legendary kaunastic doughnut to share can become a great afternoon snack on Valentine’s day. More about Spurginė here.

P.S. After dark, the pubs, clubs and cafes of Kaunas, including Kultūra, Kamerinis, Pilies Sodas and  the likes, will offer special programmes. Some romantic, some sexy. Decide before you go!

A long spa session is also something worth considering this weekend. Here’s a guide we prepared some time ago; there’s also a new complex in the downtown called Aušra Spa.

A lot of street art in Kaunas was inspired by love. The Pink Elephant on Ožeškienės street is a favourite background for wedding pictures, and the two lovebirds in Žemieji Šančiai are a great catch, too. Can you find some more loveable pieces? Grab our Wallographer’s Notes guide for inspiration.

The love weekend is a great chance to visit some of the numerous historic houses in Kaunas. Once owned by opera singers, writers, painters. etc., the cosy little museums now represent the interwar and postwar history of our city, as well as hide many romantic stories. Check out the networks of the National M. K. Čiurlionis Museum of Art, Maironis Museum of Lithuanian Literature and Kaunas City Museum.

Looking for a special place to pop the question this weekend? Well, congratulations. We have prepared a special guide for proposing in Kaunas. Find it here.

In the end, no matter what you do on Valentine’s, it’s important who you do it with. Poeplespotting in a cosy cafe can be even more fun than an extravagant dinner. And wandering in our parks and forests, holding hands, is as warming as a spa session. Whatever you decide, we hope it turns out to be a kaunastic weekend!
